Ho'omaka

At any given moment, somewhere on the planet, something is blooming...starting from scratch. As humans, we tend to set our "fresh starts" to coincide with big events: birthdays, anniversaries, New Years, etc. Wouldn't it be great if we could learn to start fresh several times a year? To grab that New Year's resolution energy every day?

Waiting for a big event to start something new?
Let that "big event" be the fact you woke up today.

Ho'omaka - to begin.

Link to the Past

It's funny how time can change the meaning of a word.
Today, links take us to new places; yesterday they held us back.

The Waterfront

Took this shot of the Seattle waterfront last October. I usually use Lightroom 2 or Aperture to make adjustments, but this one was tweaked with CameraBag, an app for the iPhone. Sometimes simple is better.

One of the things that separates Maui from the other Hawaiian islands is the variety of scenery (and climates) to be found here. From cool and misty upcountry meadows (like the one pictured above) to the hot beaches of South Maui; from the blustery chill of Kapalua, to the significant warmth of Lahaina just down the road; from the dry lava fields of Makena, to the lush taro fields of Ke'anae; from the vibrant green of the Kahalewai mountains, to the dusty gravel of Haleakala; from the one-store town of Kaupo, to the hustle and bustle of Kahului.

If the Hawaiian islands were a collection of albums...Maui would be the Greatest Hits.

Be Unique

Anyone can follow the crowd. Be different. Don't be afraid to stand alone...it's how leaders are born. Trust yourself...you know more than you think you do.

Honor System

In a world of caution, these roadside buckets of flowers represent what's left of good old fashioned trust. Pick a bunch, put your money in the box on the fence and drive away thankful that some kind soul out there still gives strangers the benefit of the doubt.
